Overview
The Skewered Fencing Video Replay System is a simple but sophisticated plug-ang-play system to get slow-motion replays of touches. It can be setup in only a few minutes and provides high-resolution (1080p), high speed (50+ fps) replays spanning 2 seconds before a touch and 1 second after.
The system is designed to Just Work. There's no separate computer to hook up or software to install -- just plug it in and start fencing!
It comes with a wide-angle M12 fisheye lens that can capture an entire strip from only ~1.5m away, but the lens can be easily swapped out to suit specific installations.
It is seamlessly integrated with the fencing box. Simply press the white ↩ button on the remote to toggle viewing the slow-motion replay of the last touch: the replay will show while the timeline is being reviewed!
When the slow-motion video is not being displayed, the display acts as a repeater for the scoring box.
Internally, it can record entire bouts and provides a web-based interface to review bouts, replays, and trivially skip from touch-to-touch.
Setup
There are only 3 cables involved:
- An RJ11 (telephone) cable from the scoring box to the replay module. Cables up to 100m are supported.
- An HDMI video cable from the replay module to the monitor.
- A USB-C power cable for the replay module.
Note: The tripod, monitor, and monitor mount are available as a separate portable deployment kit. When using the kit, there's one more cable to connect: a power cable for the monitor.
Future Capabilities
With Wifi connectivity, this will able to upload videos for later review.
